Devot. Walking By Faith

Dear Friends,

I hope you had a good weekend!

The devot. for today is walking in faith each day.   Hebrews 11:1 says, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."  "Hoped for" means: What is expected.  It gives the idea of stretching or craning the neck and looking down the road for something.

Faith is when a famer plants a crop, expecting a bountiful harvest.   The evidence has not grown yet, but he is hopeful and he is watching that field every day.

For us faith, and not just faith in anything but specifically in Jesus and His Word, is the foundation for the things we pray for, it's the evidence for what has not happened yet.
Faith in Jesus also very powerful to sustain us through the storms in life.

I am going to include a link to a song on faith that came to mind and also a link to Hebrews 11-the "Hall of Faith" as many call it.    It shows us how Old and New Testament folks lived by faith and what the Lord accomplished in their lives because of it.

Lord bless you this week!

Devot. The Unperfect Substance

Hi Folks,

I hope you had a super week!

The devot for today is in honor of the March for Life which is being held tomorrow in Washington DC.    http://marchforlife.org/

I had never seen/read this one before and thought it was amazing!   The end paragraph of
the devot. shows that if an infant dies before they have had a chance to add years to their life (miscarriage, pass away at birth, their infant/toddler years), that child will be with the Lord automatically.

The basis we have for this is in the Old Testament.  King David's infant son died at birth and David said that the child could not return to him, but he could go to him ( join him in Heaven) (2 Sam. 12:23: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2+sam.+12%3A23&version=KJV)

It's an amazing bit of truth there!

Pray the devot.  gives you something to ponder this weekend.  Lord bless you!

Devot. When Your Faith Wavers

Hi Folks,

I hope you had a blessed weekend filled with a sense of God being right there with you!

I am going to start a series on faith this week.   I've had this set aside for awhile and feel now is the time to release it.

I will be sending the faith devots.  in the order that I feel the Lord leading.  This one spoke to my heart as I had some very real moments last week  when I had to keep asking the Lord to help me have faith regarding a very important prayer request.  The Lord always has a way, after the fact, of showing me that He has been listening the whole time and was simply bringing forth the answer to my prayers in His own, perfect timing:)

Also since this Friday is the March for Life in DC, I wanted to remind us that life matters to God. Whether it's a little one in the beginning weeks of life-remember I stated in a devot.
in Nov. that a baby's heart starts to beat 14 days after conception, it's the first organ that develops- or an older person in the golden years of life, God sees each person as a precious SOUL that He died for, loves, who needs saving, and who He created in His image and for His glory (Gen. 1:26, Isa. 43:7).

We have been at one end of the spectrum and, if we live long enough, will come to the other. Our society sadly does not seem to respect either spectrum  in life.

I have added a link of the true story of two courageous young ladies in light of Right to Life.

Pray it amazes your heart! Lord bless you and yours this week!

Devot. Honor to Whom Honor

Hi Folks,

I hope you had a super week!  The devot. is an Inaugural Devot. and the last one for this term around:)

It is a reminder that Scriptures admonishes us to respect positions of authority.
Now, we don't have to agree with the PERSON in authority or their policies  (I'm sure that the Christian's in Nero's time didn't agree with his governmental policies of exterminating them.), but the POSITION should be respected.

And Scripture does also encourage us to pray for the PERSON:)   Godly changes only occur with prayer, they don't happen on their own.

I hope this devot. reminds you to pray for the POSITION of those in authority and to pray for God's wisdom for those in authority.   It makes a difference, folks!

Lord send you His peace and presence this weekend!

Devot. The President's Heart

Hello Folks,

I hope you had a good weekend!

I hope you didn't groan when you saw the devot.'s title and yes I know what Friday is-Inauguration Day.   I wanted to offer encouragement from Scripture and give a reminder again that God is in control, He knows what He is doing, He sets up powers and ordains authorities for HIS own good reasons (Daniel 2:21 and Romans 13:1).

But now is the time to pray, as this devot. highly encourages, to pray for those who are elected-for God's wisdom in their life.  That is when good, godly differences are made-when men place themselves in God's hands, acknowledge that they don't know everything and need His help and guidance.

I have included 4 Scripture links and the devot. below that I pray will re-remind you that God is in control.

May the Lord send you His presence and week this week!

Devot. The New Creation

Hi Folks!

I hope you have had a good week!

The devot. today is a bit of a throw back to Tuesday's devot.-Creation and things being new.
But instead of referring to the Creation of people, creatures, the sky and plant life as we read in Genesis, this is referring to how God makes us new!

The moment we receive Jesus as our only means of getting to Heaven, God gives us a brand new slate to work off of, a new start on life.   He said that He remembers our sins no more:  https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=heb.+8%3A12&version=KJV

Amazing!   The reference verse for this Bible truth is found in the devot. and here: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2+Corinthians+5%3A17&version=KJV

Lord bless you and yours this weekend!

Devot. Creation and the New Year

Hi Folks,
I hope you had a good start to your week!

The devot. for today shows us a tie in between in Creation and starting a New Year.  I thought http://www.icr.org/ did an awesome job of bringing this topic to light and helping us learn something
from a never-thought-of perspective.

As an FYI, in the new few weeks I am going to be doing more devots. on practical ways to make/keep and learn through New Years promises.

Lord bless and keep you and yours this week (Numbers 6:24)!

Devot. A New Song for A New Year

Dear Friends,

I pray you had a very blessed New Year's weekend! Well, we are into a brand new week and year.

As many folks do at this time of year, New Year resolutions are made.  We promise to exercise more, work harder on the job, watch what we eat and other promises.    I for one have since given up trying to make any resolutions:) They never seem to stick very long:)
I was pondering that today:  Why don't we keep our resolutions very long and are we making the right promises?
I think one reason why our promises don't last is because we have made too many and we are trying to keep them in our own strength instead of asking the Lord that we need the determine to keep them.

Ephesians 6:10 is my life verse-a verse that I base my life on, "Finally, my brethren, (my brothers and sisters in Christ) be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might."
The Lord promises to give me the strength I need to be who HE wants me to be, all I have to do is ask.
Also are our promises worth while beyond this life?  Yes, its good to think of how to better ourselves while we are here, but in addition or saving more than we spend for instance, why not make a promise to give 10% back to Lord ("tithe" as it is mentioned in the Old and New Testament) to further missionary work around the work? Reflect a difference, HIS difference so that others will see we have something they don't have and ask what (or WHO) makes us different.
Now, I already said I wasn't going to make any resolutions, but I am going to make some determinations:)   Things that I know I need to wok on that would also glorify the Lord:  Be more selfless,  be more kind/sensitive to other's hurting hearts;  be more bold for the Lord I my everyday life, mature spiritually.
I think if we each work on small areas- spiritual and physical areas- a little bit everyday as the opportunities arise, and then work on the larger areas as the year goes on, of course asking the Lord determination and strength, I think we can make a difference in the lives of others around us this year:)

Lord bless you and yours this week!    Devot. below used by permission.   Taken from http://www.icr.org/

A New Song for a New Year
“Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise.” (Psalm 33:3)

This is the first of nine references in the Bible to a “new song.” Appropriately, the song of Psalm 33 deals with the primeval event of creation, and it is the first psalm that does so (note also Psalm 104, etc.).

The new song is to be sung with instrumental accompaniment. However, the Hebrew word translated “loud noise” is so translated nowhere else; it is translated many different ways, but perhaps the familiar rendering “joyful sound” (Psalm 89:15) is the most appropriate here. In any case, this new song is of great importance and so should be performed well and joyfully, for it deals with the grandest of themes.

First of all is the great assertion that “the word of the LORD” is always right and the “works” of the Lord are always of truth (33:4). His righteousness and goodness are evident everywhere to those with eyes to see and hearts to believe (v. 5).

Then there is the vital revelation that God’s creation of all things was simply by His mighty word, “the breath of his mouth,” accomplished instantly, and not dragged out over long ages of evolutionary trial and error. “He spake, and it was done” (vv. 6, 9).

Furthermore, it is a comfort to know that God does not change, though new years come and go. “The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever” (v. 11). “Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD” (v. 12).

There are many other great themes in this new song, and it would indeed be well to read and rehearse them all as the new year begins, committing ourselves once again to the faithful teaching of His inerrant Word, His magnificent creation, and His great salvation. HMM
