Devot. Preparing Our Hearts for Christmas

Dear Friends,
I hope you had a great weekend!
The devot. for today are some bits and pieces-some things I thought would be useful to you and others are a spiritual reminder-something to get our hearts prepared for Christmas.

Let me share The Useful first:

~Do you still have Christmas cards to send, but want to save on postage?  Send a free e-card!  LOVE this place: https://www.dayspring.com/ecards

~Last minute gifts that can be ordered online?  My family's go to for very nice gifts for all ages and needs: https://www.christianbook.com/?utm_content=%2F&utm_campaign=cbd.com&utm_source=referral
also https://www.dayspring.com/

~Or if you like to give Christian books as a gift or see a book  in cbd.com that you like, but need to save a few dollars, look here: https://www.abebooks.com/ or http://www.discoverbooks.com/

The Spiritual:

~Read Luke 2 throughout  the week, take 10 verses a day and reflect on the Christmas story.  Read it to your family on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning.  https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=+luke+2&version=KJV

~Get a manger scene and hide Jesus until Christmas morning and then bring Him out.   It emphases the True Reason of Christmas and gets everyone excited about His appearance!  My parents did this with me and now I do this with my young people in my life.   They are always looking to see if Jesus is there yet and get super excited  when they finally see Him in the manger!

~Go to a Christmas play, or Christmas Eve service at  good Bible believing church.   As a child, my family would go to various Bible or Baptist churches to see their Christmas presentations. Christmas Eve service was the climax to Christmas and it always helped us prepare our hearts.
Regardless of where you live, here is a link to find a good Bible believing church: http://www.swordofthelord.com/churches.php

~Wish folks a Merry Christmas!  Our Saviour's name is in the holiday! (Which actually means 'holy day!")

In closing and in place of a devot.:

Two weeks ago my pastor shared what The Colors of Christmas represent.  It really made in impression on my heart and mind!   I added to what he shared and also added a Scripture verse to each color.  Please look up each verse and reflect.

The Colors of Christmas:

~The White( lights) represent the Light of the World Jesus.  He is the only one who can bring light into our dark world.    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=john+8%3A12&version=KJV
White also represents how Jesus makes us "white as snow" (pure, clean and new) when we trust Him as Savior:  https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=+isa.+1%3A18&version=KJV
Also 2 Cor. 5:17: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2+Corinthians+5%3A17&version=KJV

~The Red (bows, poinsettias) represents the blood Jesus freely/willingly shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of the sins of the world and as God's means of paying our sin debt and ticket to Heaven.  https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=john+10%3A17-18&version=KJV

~The Green (trees) represent the growth we are to experience as we walk daily with the Lord.   https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=col.+2%3A6-7&version=KJV

I have 2 Christmas songs for this week.  The 1st song is simple and sung by children, but it hits the heart of Christmas squarely on the head!   Just like we wish to be acknowledge on our birthday, said Happy Birthday to, Jesus wishes the same thing on His birthday!

The second song I sent months ago, but wanted to re-send as it's about Christmas.    My pastor played this after his message last Sunday.   As my church listened to it you couldn't help but tear up at the significance/powerfulness of the message!   Please re-listen to it in the light of Christmas and apply it to yourself.

My pastor did change one word of the song.  Instead of 'someday' insert 'today" (We can have eternal-real life- 'Today': https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=+2+cor.+6%3A2&version=KJV)

I pray you have a blessed week leading up to Christmas!  Merry CHRISTmas from my family to yours!
