Our Faith During Uncertain Times

Hi Folks,

I hope you had a good weekend.

In light of what happened in Texas on Sunday, I want to share a devot. that I hope will bolster you
this week.

In spite of what people are saying that the innocent victims of Sunday's shooting were in church, praying, and it didn't help them, I want to remind you of 2 things:

1.  God gives human beings free will to do the right or the wrong things in life.  God did not make us to be puppets, but free thinking human beings who can chose to live for God or live for ourselves.  In the Garden of Eden (Genesis 2), God told Adam and Eve to not eat fruit from a certain tree for their own good (Gen. 2:17-they would bring spiritual and physical death on themselves and the rest of mankind to come if they did).  They chose to disobey (Gen. 3:6) and sin entered the world.   And just as they had freedom to choose, God has given us a free will to chose as well.

 2.  In the midst of the tragedy, God was with those folks, He was present,(Deut. 21:6), He hurts when we hurt, (Hebrews 4:15), He does hear our prayers(Proverbs 15:29).  And for folks who did trust Jesus and their Savior (or in the case of young children and they were too young to reject Jesus as their Savior-2 Samuel 12:23), they went to Heaven immediately and are in God's presence right now (2 Corinthians 5:8).   Praise God for the hope of eternal life that we have through Jesus!

I pray the devot. below is a blessing. I also added a note from Dr. Charles Stanley (the Pastor from InTouch) regarding Sunday's Tragedy.  And the song below came to my mind as I was thinking over what to write this week.   Defiantly these are times when we need to 'take a knee'
(you'll understand what I mean when you listen to the song:).

Also as this Friday is Veteran's Day, a special thank from a grateful American, to you (or your love ones/friends) who have served in the military.
These men and woman had the courage and boldness, even in the face of possible death, to enlist and serve away from their homes and families and in places of danger, in order that our family and those were love stay safe and free.
These are true heroes- God bless you folks. "The land of the free and the home of the brave!"

Lord bless and keep you and yours this week (Numbers 6:24-26).

Joshua 1:9, "Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest."
