Devot. Kind Words Are Like Honey

Hi Folks,

 

I hope you had a great week!

Our devot. for today is about our words.   Remember the old expression,"Sticks and stones can break my bones, but words can never hurt me."  It sounds positive, courageous, but it certainly isn't reality.

Words-how they are said, at what time, and even the tone of voice used- can make a positive or negative difference in someone's life. 

 

 Sometimes even certain types of joking can be harmful.   You may just be teasing someone, but if that comment is degrading or belittling (attacks their character, personality, looks), even if you are just kidding, it can still make someone feel worthless or discouraged.  

 

I always say that when God called the world into being, He did so by His words.  He spoke the world into existence, therefore our words have power

(Proverbs 18:21, " Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.")

 

Proverbs 16:24 says, "Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones."  Cheerful, positive, encouraging words are like honey.   They are sweet to our hearts and even make a difference to our bodies (honey does have  properties that have a health benefits:)

 

I pray that this devot. is useful to all of us and reminder to consider our words this weekend.
