Devot. When Faith Gives Way to Fear

Hi Folks,

I hope you had a good weekend!

For our devot. this week, I  found a sermon video link from In Touch that Dr. Charles Stanley preached this past week entitled "When Faith Gives Way to Fear."    Based on the title, it looks like a good one.

If you don't have time to listen to the sermon right now from, read the sermon summary on the right hand side which I am using as our devot. for this week and maybe listen to the sermon in 10 minute clips through
your upcoming week.

Pray it is a blessing.  Lord bless and keep you and yours!

Devot. Deliverance from Fear

Hi Folks,

I hope you are having a good weekend.

Last week we paid tribute to 9/11-those who lost their lives on this tragic day and the brave families who remain.

In the aftermath of 9/11, there was a lot of fear over the security of the US and the world in general.   The sense of fear, insecurity and uncertainty still remains in the wake of terror attacks, and with the current wave of storms that is hitting the islands and the US.  What is going on?  I'm not sure, but like I stated  last week, I truly believe that God is trying to get our attention and help others see their personal need of Jesus before it is too late.

But even in the midst of uncertainty, fear is not of God.   For those who have specifically trusted Jesus as their way to get to Heaven, we have Someone walking beside and we need
not fear because God is with us.

In 1 John 4:16 it states that God is love and then in verse 18 we read, "There is no fear in love (God's love); but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment.
He that feareth is not made perfect (complete) in love."

2 Timothy 1:7 states,"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."

Jesus said in John 14:27, "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."

For those who have not trusted Jesus as their only way to get to Heaven, there will be fear and uncertainty because they are not aware that there is HOPE in the Living God.

Maybe this describes where you are at personally:   You don't have the Hope of spending an eternity in Heaven because you are unsure of how to get There.   Here is a link from the blog that I would encourage you to read: http://thejourneyheavenward.blogspot.com/p/are-you-100-sure.html
It will share with you from God's Word, the Bible how you can be 100% of Heaven by accepting Jesus as your Only Way to get to Heaven.    I would urge you to read this and receive Jesus while you still have the time, as we never know what another day may bring.

I was challenged by my assistant pastor during last Sunday morning's sermon to spread hope and not keep Jesus to myself.     I would encourage you to do the same.   You can pass on the hope found in Jesus through this blog and through the tab above.   I pray you would spread it onto someone else this weekend!

Below is a devotional that I pray will encourage and comfort your heart.  Lord bless you and yours!

Deliverance from Fear
“I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.” (Psalm 34:4)

There are many things in such a world as ours that can bring fear into human hearts—fear of want, fear of war, fear of rejection, fear of the dark, and a multitude of others. Some fears are rational, some are foolish, but all are very serious to those who experience them.

The good news of the gospel, however, can set us free from every fear. Remember that fear entered the world when sin entered the world. “I was afraid,” Adam explained when God found him hiding in the garden after eating the forbidden fruit (Genesis 3:10). The second reference to fear in the Bible, on the other hand, was when “the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward” (Genesis 15:1). The Lord protects us and provides for us; we have His Word and need “fear no evil” (Psalm 23:4).

At least 19 times in the New Testament we hear the words “fear not” or “be not afraid” on the lips of Christ. Whenever phobias beset us or fears discourage us, deliverance is ours when we seek the Lord. Then “we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me” (Hebrews 13:6). Even if we must sometimes “suffer for righteousness’ sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled” (1 Peter 3:14).

Perhaps the greatest fear of all is the fear of death, but the Lord delivers us even from this fear, for He has conquered death. In His glorified body, He has said, “Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death” (Revelation 1:17-18). Grace,
American Pastor Andrew Brunson – imprisoned, isolated, and alone.
Separated from his family. Persecuted for his faith. No access to justice. No rights at all.
He suffers solely because of his love for Christ. For nearly a year – 348 days – he has endured devastating persecution because of his Christian faith.
After faithfully pastoring a Christian church in Turkey for 23 years, Pastor Andrew was lured to a Turkish police station, arrested, and detained.
Falsely imprisoned under the absurd charge of armed membership in a terrorist organization, Pastor Andrew now faces new, more serious, and undeniably false charges carrying even stiffer punishments, if convicted.
He’s done nothing wrong. Yet the Turkish government doubled down on these false allegations. This poses a severe threat to Pastor Andrew’s life.
Tomorrow, President Trump is scheduled to meet with Turkey’s President Erdogan.
We’re aggressively fighting for Pastor Andrew’s immediate freedom. Take urgent action with us.

Devot. Our Light in the Darkness

Hi Folks,

I hope you had a good weekend and that each of you are safe (not living in areas effected by the hurricanes).

I've seen news articles where folks are wondering, "Where is God in all this?"  He has not abandoned anyone, He is watching and present, but I do strongly believe that He is trying to get though to the hearts and minds of those who have not trusted Him as their Lord and Savior.   He is trying to help them see their need of Him before it is truly too late.

"For whosoever (anyone!) shall call upon the name of the Lord, shall be saved (for sure and for certain!)."  Romans 10:13

I have seen a blessing come from the storms though.   My pastor pointed out that folks are coming together regardless of political affliction or race and I think that is a Godsend-in the midst of a storm people are having compassion on each other and working to encourage each other, not tear each other down.    Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 says, "Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.   For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up."

There are many heroes who have immerged through the hurricanes-first responders, volunteers, everyday folks who have put their lives on the line to rescue human and animal life.    These folks are true heroes and my hat goes off to them!!!

On a somber note, keep the 9/11 families in your prayers.  Those who were lost in 9/11 and their families are heroes as well.   As a nation continues to remember, the families continue to grieve, so please keep them in your prayers.

As an added side note that I felt the Lord wanted me to include, if you know someone who is grieving/hurting (or you have experienced loss of any kind), no matter how long it has been, please check out this site: https://www.griefshare.org/
My family has experienced personal healing from loss through this faith based ministry and have seen healing in the lives of those we have been privileged to help through becoming involved in this ministry ourselves.   It is a true God send.

The devot. below is a tribute to 9/11.   A reminder that in the midst of dark times, we are not alone.   God is indeed there, in the midst of the situation, reaching out to us.

The song link I've included below has been an immense blessing to me since this summer, during times when I needed comfort and encouragement in the midst of confusion, uncertainty and turmoil.   Pray it immensely blesses and comforts your heart!

Lord bless you and yours this week!

Turkey has just falsely charged Pastor Andrew with new crimes.
These new, more serious, and demonstrably false charges carry significantly stiffer punishments, if convicted.
American Pastor Andrew Brunson's dire situation has intensified. He is in grave danger.

After 322 days of wrongful imprisonment in Turkey under the absurd charge of armed membership in a terrorist organization, Pastor Andrew urgently needs your prayers and voice more than ever.
We are demanding his immediate release. He has committed no crime. He suffers only because of his faith in Jesus Christ. He must be reunited with his family.
But there is hope. Under new presidential powers, President Erdogan has the power to return prisoners to their home countries.
Take urgent action with us as we aggressively fight for his freedom across the globe. Demand Turkey's president immediately return Pastor Andrew home to the U.S.

Devot. Profitable Labor

Hi Folks,

Hope you had a nice week!

Here is another Labor Day devot. to round out the week and a song that has been a blessing to listen to.

Please continue to pray for the folks effected by the hurricanes.   I think the best way we could pray is that human and animal life would be spared (we who have pets understand the worry over their safety and care) and for folks to come to a personal, heart knowledge of Jesus-that they would receive Him and Savior and as the only way to get to Heaven, while they have time (John 14:6, 2 Corinthians 6:2).
Those prayer count, folks, keep 'em coming (Ephesians 5:16)!

Lord bless you and yours this weekend.

Devot. Man and His Labor

Hi Folks,

I hope you had a nice, long Labor Day weekend!  I am going to do devots. on Labor Day this week and then continue with the series we are currently are on-getting through the trials and afflictions that come our way with God's help.

I have included a song link that seems like a "Labor Day Song."  I found it a few weeks ago and it is written by my new favorite music writers, Keith and Kristyn Getty, who are known as Modern Hymn Writers b/c of  how the songs have been written and the fact that they are Bible based and 'theologically sound' -contain principles that directly come from Scripture.
Pray the song is a blessing to you this week!

Lord bless and keep you and yours.

September 4, 2017Man and His Labor
“Man goeth forth unto his work and to his labour until the evening.” (Psalm 104:23)

The 104th Psalm is a beautiful psalm of creation and the Flood, supplemented by God’s providential care of His creatures in the post-Flood world. Our text makes man’s activity seem almost incidental in the grand scope of God’s activities on behalf of His whole creation.

Nevertheless, it reminds us of God’s first great commission to mankind concerning that creation. “Have dominion . . . over all the earth . . . to dress it and to keep it” (Genesis 1:26; 2:15). This primeval mandate, though still in effect as man’s stewardship responsibility for the earth and its creatures, has been seriously impacted by sin and the curse. “Cursed is the ground for thy sake,” God told Adam; “in the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread” (Genesis 3:17, 19).

And so it is that men and women must work, and the work often is laborious, stressful, and unappreciated. Yet, the divine rule is “that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands . . . That ye may walk honestly . . . and that ye may have lack of nothing” (1 Thessalonians 4:11-12). “For . . . if any would not work, neither should he eat” (2 Thessalonians 3:10).

Thus, labor is necessary, even for those who don’t know the Lord. But it is far better if we work not just to earn a living but to please the Lord. “Whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men” (Colossians 3:23).

Whatever our job is (assuming it is honorable), it can be regarded as serving Christ and helping to fulfill His primeval-dominion commandment, and even as helping to lead others to know Him. Therefore, whether the work is easy or hard, we should be “always abounding in the work of the Lord . . . your labour is not in vain in the Lord” (1 Corinthians 15:58). HMM
