Devot. Pilgrims on Earth

Hi Folks,

The devot. for today is on Memorial Day, as it was celebrated here in the US.

"Memorial", as a noun means, 1. "something, especially a structure, established to remind people of a person or event"    2. "intended to commemorate someone or something."
I want us to focus on this second meaning.

The following is also a bit of history:  "Memorial Day, an American holiday observed on the last Monday of May, honors men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in

I remember reading a news/Memorial Day article about 2-3 years ago.   It was about military families and a military mom said about Memorial Day, "For most people it is a day to have cookouts and spend time with family.  For us (the military families) it is a day to grieve and remember the loved ones we have lost."   This lady had lost her son a few years before.   Her statement has stuck in my mind ever since I read it and gives a stark reality to what, I'm sure, many military families feel on this day/week.   It's the essence of Memorial Day to them and to our country.

While I highly encourage everyone to spend this extra time with their families and get together, please remember to say a pray for this week for the men/women and their families (and those families who are grieving the lose of a loved one)  who have made our freedom on this day possible.

Remember the cost of freedom-free to enjoy by those of us who have not served, but costly to others.
If you or a family family have or are serving, THANK YOU form a grateful American!

I hope the devot. below is a blessing to your week.  Lord bless and keep you all.
