Devot. A Faith Worth Passing Down

HI Folks,

I hope you had a good weekend!   I felt the Lord nudge my heart to send this devot.

It is about passing our faith down to the next generation.   If you don't have children, let me reapply the context.

Do you wish to pass faith in Jesus Christ onto your nieces/nephews (biological and those who have adopted you as Aunt or Uncle), the kids next door that you are close to, the young person who works next to your cubicle, your best friend?

It cannot be acquired by osmosis or hanging with  someone; it cannot be caught like a cold.    Faith in Jesus must first be accepted by each individual, and then God can use us to instill and mentor it in others.  But we must first be nurturing it in ourselves:)

The Apostle Paul said of a young man, Timothy, who became a preacher, "When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also (2 Timothy 1:5).

Faith in Jesus first grew in Timothy's grandmother, than his mother, and then in him.   He had godly ladies in his life who demonstrated faith and he grew up to want that same faith in Jesus in his own life.

On the flip side, Jesus said in Luke 18:8, "Nevertheless when the Son of man {Jesus}cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?"    Will He find faithful, God fearing people on earth indeed.  I hope you desire to be one of them!

Pray the devot. is inspirational and give you ideas of how to live out your faith in Jesus a bit more this week!

Lord bless you!

"Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."  (Matt. 5:14, 16)
