Devot. Sifed

Dear Friends,
I hope you are having a good day!

I was so happy to find this devot. and the topic! The devot. is self explanatory, but is a reminder that we need to rely on The Right Man
(http://thejourneyheavenward.blogspot.com/2016/07/devot-right-man-on-our-side.html)
for the strength to be the Christ follower He wants us to be in order that we point others to Him and the Cross for salvation.

Pray it blesses you and reminds you to stick close to Jesus.   Have blessed weekend!

A Note from Grace: Join Me in Supporting Dallas!

Dear Reader,
In any area of life- business, finance, law, ministry or teaching there will be those who dishonor their profession or abuse their authority.   That doesn't mean that everyone fits in that category-The bulk do not.  Sadly through we automatically think that "one bad apple spoils the whole bunch."   We do not have to have this mindset.  We can evaluate on a individual, case by case basis.

I say this because I have included a link of a petition for a profession that I feel passionately about-law enforcement.

Many of the news clips I have seen or articles I have read with stories from the survivors of the Dallas Texas shooting say that the police officers there "had no regard for their own lives."  They threw themselves on top of  or in the way of others so they themselves would take the bullets so innocent people would not be killed.

These are the type of men and women that should be held up as heroes in the eyes of our children and the world, not those who abuse or misuse their authority, but those who use it to save others.

Jesus said Himself in John 15:13, "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."   You know someone is "true blue", real, sincere when you see this happen in real life.

I would prayerfully ask you to consider signing the below petition.   Men willingly gave their lives so others might be saved; children are left fatherless, wives are left without husbands because someone had hate in their hearts towards folks who were out there to protect even him if necessary.

Support and pray for men and women in blue and their families in your state or country who are out their willingly and selflessly protecting you and those you love.

Sincerely,
Grace

Dear Friend,

I have signed a letter of support that will be delivered to the Dallas and Baton Rouge Police Chiefs, and such others as circumstances warrant.

If you would like to join with me in signing the letter, regardless of if you are in the US or not, please click on the link here:

Devot. The Right Man on Our Side

Dear Friends,
I hope you had  good start to you week!

This devot. is the 2nd verse of A Mighty Fortress is Our God.  As I was reading it, I got a big smile on my face.

The first paragraph was a reminder to me from the Lord that without actively inviting Him to give me strength in my daily life to be the Christian He wants me to be, and reflect Him,  I'll fall flat on my face.

My 'life verse', the verse that I have claimed to live my life by, is Ephesians 6:10, "Finally, my brethren (my brothers and sisters in Christ), be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might."
God said to Paul in 1 Corinthians 12:9, "My grace (God giving us what we don't deserve) is sufficient for thee: (now here's the reason why it is) for my strength is made perfect (means complete or mature) in weakness."

We can live a life pleasing to God and that reflects His active participation in our lives, as long as we have The Right Man (a.k.a. the Lord Jesus) on our side.

I pray this devot. will bless you as it did me!  I've have included the song link again in case you want to re-listen to verse 2.  Lord bless/keep you and yours this week!  Devot. below

The Right Man on Our Side
“Behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not.” (Luke 22:31-32)

Satan wanted Peter to fall, and fall he would (v. 34), but Christ had prayed for him that victory would come. The second verse of “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God” reflects our vulnerability on our own and our invincibility on His side.Did we in our own strength confide, our striving would be losing;
Were not the right man on our side, the man of God’s own choosing:
Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus it is He,
Lord Sabaoth, His name,
From age to age the same,
And He must win the battle.

After revealing many thrilling blessings, Paul asks: “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31). Furthermore, neither “principalities, nor powers” nor any thing else in all creation is “able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38-39). With Him, Satan cannot win the battle for our minds or destinies. But on our own, we cannot win.

The term Sabaoth is the Hebrew word for “hosts,” in particular the “host of heaven.” The term Yahweh Sabaoth or “Lord Sabaoth” occurs some 300 times in the Old Testament and constitutes a most majestic name for God. “For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called” (Isaiah 54:5). This is none other than “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever” (Hebrews 13:8). Creator (Colossians 1:16), Sustainer (v. 17), Redeemer (v. 20)—He must win the battle. JDM

A Note from Grace: An Opportunity to Stand for the Right!

Dear Reader,
We live in a time when justice is flaunted, undermined, not carried through; the Constitution of the United States, the foundation for the country's very beginnings and system of law and justice, is lightly brushed over in place of personal preference; authority of any kind, esp. good, decent authority, is stepped on and eve harmed, and most importantly we are drastically moving away from the Word of God, the Christian principles the US was build on, morally, educationally and other areas.

Are you tired of what is being seen, as never before across the world?  I could give Scriptures for each comment I made to back up that things were this way in the days of the Old and New Testament and where God's Word also shows it's going to get worse, I'm afraid.

I say this not to discourage, but to encourage others to take a stand for the right!  I will be including more "news updates" of happening's around the world, the true stories, and petitions to sign that will give you a chance to take a stand for truth and justice and make a difference.

I would also HIGHLY encourage you to turn into this website and watch the news/tv show and read the articles:

It gives cutting edge, up to date news and information on what is REALLY going on in the world, but it also gives a Christian worldview.   If you really want to know what the events in the world have to do with us, what part even it has in the Bible (and it does to a LARGE extent), then check the site out weekly.

Sincere Blessings,
Grace

Devot. MY

Dear Friends,
I hope you had a good weekend!

The devot. for today is a bit unique and different than usual.  It uses Psalm 18 as background (which is similar in content to Ps. 46 which our hymn devot., "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God" from last week  was taken from.) uses an acrostic style and pulls out of the verse all the things that God is to us-a rock, a fortress, protector.

It's a near devot. and I pray it blesses you this week!  Lord bless and keep you and yours!

Devot. A Mighty Fortress is Our God

Dear Friends,
I hope you had a very good week!
The devot. from today is taken from the first verse of the hymn, A Mighty Fortress is Our God, a paraphrase of Psalm 46.   It is a reminder to me at this time that God is my protector, a fortress that I can run to and be safe and that He is in control.
I have included a link to Psalm 46, the text of which A Mighty Fortress is taken from. I have also added a song link so if you are unfamiliar with it, you can become acquainted:)

May the Lord use this in your life this weekend to encourage you!

A Mighty Fortress Is Our God
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear.” (Psalm 46:1-2)

Martin Luther’s journal entries inform us of his continual battle against evil forces and that Psalm 46 was a great comfort to him. As he meditated on the words of our text, the thrust of a mighty song was born that openly declared victory in the great battle: “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God.”
A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing;
Our helper He, amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing:
For still our ancient foe doth seek to work us woe;
His craft and power are great,
And, armed with cruel hate,
On earth is not his equal.
The battle to be fought is “not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (Ephesians 6:12). Satan, along with his henchmen, is an ancient foe, “a roaring lion,” as it were, “seeking whom he may devour” (1 Peter 5:8). But there is no need for alarm, “the LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge” (Psalm 46:11). He “is our refuge and strength” (today’s text), a bulwark never failing. “For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil” (1 John 3:8).

Only God could accomplish this victory, for Satan is “the prince of this world” (John 14:30), “the prince of the power of the air” (Ephesians 2:2). No man on Earth is his equal.

But how did the Son of God gain the victory? By taking on Himself “flesh and blood” and dying a substitutionary death, “that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil” (Hebrews 2:14). JDM

News From the America Center for Law and Justice

Dear Reader,
As I have said previously in other posts, it's hard to believe the evil in the world, but it's true.
Please pray for resources to be given and the message received as you read the update below from the American Center for Law and Justice: http://aclj.org/
Thank you! ~Grace

Grace,
Christians are being massacred to the brink of extermination.
Now we're just 24 hours from a major moment in their defense.
ISIS (the Islamic State) has tortured and crucified children for refusing to renounce Christ - beheading and burning other Christians alive.
Even though we successfully pressured the Obama Administration to recognize this "genocide against Christians," it hasn't taken action. America has a legal obligation to act.
At the ACLJ, it's our sacred duty to act. We're expanding our largest legal advocacy campaign to protect Christians from jihadist genocide. We've directly engaged Congress, the U.N., and world leaders to implement the Genocide Convention: 1) stop the genocide and 2) protect Christians.
In just 24 hours, we're delivering a critical legal demand directly to the U.S. State Department. By law, it must respond and could force the Administration into action.
We can't continue this vital work without your tax-deductible support through our July Matching Challenge. Every gift will be doubled in defense of dying Christians.
Can you chip in $5 or more right now?

Grace,
Once again, the terrorists have attacked France.
The carnage is ghastly. Last night, a terrorist attack ripped through Nice, France on Bastille Day - France's independence day - slaughtering more than 75 people. The death toll is still rising.
The global jihad must be destroyed. The time is now for the world to unite to defeat the radical jihadists.

Sign the Petition Now
We've outlined a crucial 5-point plan to defeat ISIS (the Islamic State) and other jihadists: 1) Name the enemy: Islamic jihadists. 2) Fix our broken intelligence. 3) Ramp up undercover stings to smoke out jihadists at home. 4) Authorize military force against ISIS. 5) Unleash full U.S. military might to utterly destroy ISIS.
We're aggressively working in Congress and across the globe to implement this strategy.
The time is now.
We need your voice today before another deadly attack.

Devot. Jesus' Offering of Peace

Hi Folks,
I hope you have had a good week!  Here is a second devot. I found on peace earlier this week.

I pray that it brings hope and the Lord's peace to overflowing in your hearts this day.

I also wanted to include a link to a Psalm that speaks of calamity, but speaks of protection and peace in the midst.

My mom has encouraged me to read it and pray it over myself or loved ones during times of unrest.  Pray it encourages!

Lord bless you and yours this weekend!

Devot. Peace Beyond Comprehension

Dear Friends,
The devot. for this weekend is on Peace.  I'm sure all of us could say that our world needs
 it right now.
Jesus said that He would give us  peace that  the world could not give (John 14:27),
since He is known as the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6).

I have also included a song link that I sing when I need the Lord's peace the very most.
I pray it and the devot. encourage your heart this weekend!

Lord bless/keep you and yours.

Devot. Ceremony Becoming the Occassion

Dear Friends,
Happy 4th of July to those of you in the US!!  I hope you have had a good day with your families.

This week's devot. is paying tribute to the 4th.  The devot below briefly explores how 4th of July used to be celebrated, once upon a time.
I found it intriguing!   It also shows how far our country has come since our nation first began to celebrate the 4th.  If only we could rekindle even a fraction of how patriotic days used to be celebrated.....
In addition to the devot. I have included a very touching prayer for our military families that I received from  http://www.dayspring.com/.
I firmly believe with all my heart that if it wasn't for God's grace and the courage, bravely and sense of duty from our men in women in uniform (military and law enforcement) we would not be the nation we are, enjoy the freedom we have thus far and have victory over our enemies.   If you or a loved one have or are serving, THANK YOU!
Lastly, I have included a song that always brings tears of gratefulness to my eyes.   It is very powerful!!

I hope this week's devot. and additions are a blessing to your week and well up within you a sense a patriotism and thankfulness to be free, regardless of the country you live in!

Lord bless and keep you and yours this week.
Prayer:  I don't know that I can include dayspring's prayer for military families w/o their permission.  Therefore I will briefly tell you how to find it.   It's worth it, so please look it up.
Go to http://www.dayspring.com/, scroll all the way to the bottom and under "More" click on "Stories".   "A Prayer for Military Families" should be the first article to pop up (written 6/29/16 ).

Devot. Glorious Liberty

Dear Friends,
I hope you had a good week!!

The devot. of today echoes Tuesday's devot. of the freedom we have in Christ, not to sin as we want, but to live a life can be free from the effects of sin.
I pray it is a blessing to your weekend!  Lord keep you and yours.
