Hi Folks,
I hope you had a good weekend! Today is another Easter devot. highlighting a characteristic/or title of Jesus.
In the New Testament He is called "The Lamb" in several places (John 1:29, Revelation 6:16, 12:11, 17:14, 22:3)
and in the Old Testament Isaiah 53 describes the coming Savior's death and refers to Him as 'a lamb [going to] to slaughter.' Jesus went willingly, never protesting, as the devot. shows in one of the Scripture passages.
Isaiah 53 and Psalm 22 are remarkable chapters of Scripture. They specifically refer to the death of someone, by crucifixion (esp. Psalm 22), hundreds of years before crucifixion was invented by the Romans. Other details in the passage show very clearly that this is a prophecy of Jesus's death.
Here is another example of the Bible being accurate, as I was sharing last week.
Isaiah was written over 700 years before Jesus came, but what was predicted (how the coming Saviour would die) came true to the letter in Jesus.
I would encourage you to read either of these chapters of Scripture sometime this week, in preparation for Good Friday.
If you have a chance to go to a Good Friday service or Passion play-a reenactment of Jesus death and resurrection-go. These are the type of activities that I purposely attend to get my heart in the right spot, de-clutter my head from the business around me, and re-cultivate a grateful heart for what Jesus did me me (us).
In addition to the devot. below, Isaiah 53/Psalm 22 Scripture links, I have included a link of some ideas to make the True Meaning of Easter come alive to the young ones in your life if you're a grandparent, parent, aunt/uncle or Sunday School teacher. Feel free to pass it along to anyone that it may be helpful to!
Lastly, I have included a petition link for an American Pastor, Andrew Brunson, who has been wrongfully imprisoned.
He has been in prison 6 months due to a false charge. Even his daughter's wedding has had to be postponed while they await her dad's release. When you get time this week or next, please sign the petition and speak on his behalf.
May each of us be in church on Sunday, worshiping joyfully from our hearts and giving thanks to Jesus for what He did for us. Lord bless your week!
