I hope you had a good weekend! The devot. for today is a reminder that there is only One True God and the where proof of it is found (the devot. shares where the proof is found- so keep your eyes open for it!)
One of the leaders in my church's youth group was saying last week to us that one way to tell the Bible is accurate is all the prophecies in the Old Testament that were fulfilled in the New Testament (we will get to that soon in regards to Jesus'-prophecies that foretold of Him in the Old Testament
that He fulfilled in the New Testament).
The second thing to tell Scripture's accuracy is that many things are said in the Old Testament and repeated in the New Testament, thus emphasizing the importance of that statement and that it still 'counts'.
A example of this that pertains to our devot. today is Deuteronomy 6:4-6, "Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:"
We see this repeated by Jesus in Mark 12:29-31, "The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart,
and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these."
