Devot. Prayer is the Difference

Dear Friends,
I hope you have had a good week!
This coming Thursday, May 5th, is the National Day of Prayer and also Holocaust Remembrance Day and I wanted to share a few things that were on my heart.

First, I would like to share a bit of background on the National Day of Prayer.  This day was designated by the U.S. Congress "when people are asked "to turn to God in prayer and meditation". Each year since its inception, the president has signed a proclamation, encouraging  all Americans  to pray on this day.  The modern law formalizing its annual observance was enacted in 1952, although earlier days of fasting and prayer had been established by the Second Continental Congress from 1775 until 1783, and by President John Adams in 1798 and 1799.[3][4] Most presidents have issued annual or special occasion proclamations for a national day of prayer..."  (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Day_of_Prayer)

2 Chronicles 7:14 states, "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways;  then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

That is an amazing promise-healing of one's country, forgiveness of national sins, but the condition is specifically Christians coming to God in humbleness and prayer and asking for forgiveness themselves.  Then the healing, forgiveness and restoration can begin.

Secondly, we must never forget that horrors that have happened around us, specifically the Holocaust (or others that have occurred).  Some say that the Holocaust never happened,
but there are survivors, one of which my parents and I were privileged and honored to meet some years back and hear his story.    A favorite heroine of mine is a Christian Dutch lady
named Corrie Ten Boom. She and her family hid Jewish people in their home and suffered in a concentration camp for it.   Corrie alone survived the ordeal.

I was thinking yesterday of the statement of 9/11 is "Never Forget." If we do not remember it or the Holocaust, do not share, educate our children and youth of  this reality, it will happen again.

I would challenge you to youtube "Corrie, ten Boom" and see her interviews or see the film "The Hiding Place' which does a powerful job of recounting the story as  Corrie recorded in her biographies. There is also a new film "Return to the Hiding Place" which shares the true story of a young man who helped Corrie and her family.
Just some food for thought....

In closing, is a devot. on prayer, specifically how it indeed makes a difference.
I pray it would bless you this weekend!  Lord keep you and yours safe.

Book of Psalms Link

A Sister of Christ of mine in Nicaragua requested that the blog have some things from the book of Psalms.   The following is just for you!

"Psalms" actually means 'Songs."  King David's writings under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit were at one time poems, heartfelt messages to the Lord put to song since David was a musician.
The follow link is where you can find any verse or chapter from the Book of Psalms.
Please let me know if I can provide anything more specific!
God bless you!  ~Grace

If you scroll down about 1/4 of the way down the screen, you will see a bar and on the right side of it
is written Psalm 2 and an arrow to click to read it.   You can do this for each chapter in the Psalms or type the specific Psalm you are looking for in the Search box at the top of the page.

Devot. The Lamb of God

Dear Friends,

I hope you have had a good week!  The devot. for today is a throw back on one of Tuesday's devot.-Jesus' title as 'Lamb of God.'

Jesus was God but yet He was humble in spirit (Matthew 11:29).   Just like a lamb goes to the slaughter house willingly and without a fight, Jesus went to Calvary without a fight (Isa. 53:7)  because He knew it meant our eternity.

I pray the devot. is a blessing!  Lord bless you and yours this weekend!

Devot. Passover

Dear Friends,

I hope you had a super week!

We are going to be finishing our devot. topic of Jesus' Resurrection very soon, but I wanted to break away from the topic for this week and focus on Passover, which is this coming Thursday.

In Exodus 12, the Egyptians and Israelites are in the midst of the plagues that God sent on the Egyptians.  Before the plague, God commanded Moses to instruct the Israelites to kill a spotless (blemish free) lamb, take its  blood and cover the lintels of their doors. When the Angel of Death came into Egypt, those homes with the blood covering the doors he would 'passover'' and spare the lives of their first born sons
There is a great deal that can be gained from this passage.

I have included 2 very short devotions.   The first one shows how Christ fulfilled Old Testament Scriptures and become the world's Passover Lamb, the sacrifice for our sins;  the second devot. shows how the Passover has a New Testament meaning.

I have also included a song link that takes about Jesus 'passing over' our sin and a Scripture link that gives the background of the first Old Testament Passover.  Enjoy looking though this during your week. Pray you learn much from this.   Lord bless your weekend!

Devot. Preaching the Resurrection

Dear Friends,
When I saw this devot. today, I found it encouraging.   How do we believe and share Christ's resurrection with conviction and assuredly?
I love the second sentence in the second paragraph.   One could never get as excited over a spiritual resurrection as you would over a physical resurrection!
Scripture says that over 500 people saw Jesus after He arose (1 Cor. 15:1-2).  That is quite a number of people!  If it had only been 5 people, you may have  room to wonder, but 500 people? Add to that the most important fact that all the Word of God is true is all the evidence we need!
I pray that this devot. is a blessed reminder that we serve a Risen Saviour and our faith has a solid foundation because of that.
I have also included a song link that reminds us that because Jesus lives, we can face the next day.
Lord bless you and yours this week!

Devot. Prophecies of the Resurrection

Dear Friends,
I hope you had a very good weekend!!

This devot. is the start of a series of devots on how we know that the Resurrection took place and what impact it has on our lives today.
The Old Testament if FILLED with prophecies concerned Jesus coming to earth as baby and His manner of death,  Isaiah 53 and Psalm 22 being the most powerful and popular passages of His death.

Psalm 22 describes His crucifixion and it was written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit about 1,000 years before crucifixion was even invented.

This devot. will give Old and New Testament passages giving evidence of Christ's resurrection.

1 Cor. 15:14 and 19 says, "And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain. ..If in this life only we have hope in Christ,  we are of all men most miserable."

Our faith would be in useless if Christ had not risen and if we only had a hope of having Christ with us in this life and not the next also, we would be most miserable.

Pray this devot. gives you some added insight into the cornerstone of our faith, Christ's resurrection!  Lord bless you and yous this  week.

Prayer Update For Burn Victim Family

Dear Friends,
Do you remember my prayer request post a short time back for a family who were horribly burned
in a fire?   Below is a specific prayer request for the littlest member of the family, sent to me by a friend.
Prayers are appreciated!

"Please keep little Cayden in mind this weekend.  They were finally to schedule him to have surgery on his hands on Sunday to repair the skin grafting gone wrong.  It’s very scary for him and the family since they’re not sure if it will help him regain the use of his hands."  L
