HI Folks,
I have a thought for you today along with our devots.
I know that folks are trying to re-write our country's history at this time, but remember, one cannot change what has already occurred.
History tells the story of our past, where we came from, the mistakes we made, the victories that were won, the lessons we can learn from our mistakes. Tearing down historical monuments, statues, renaming buildings, does not change history. Instead, it dishonors those who made it-whether they made bad choices and we can see their monuments as a reminder to not do the same things ourselves or maybe they made God fearing decisions and we can gain much from their example.
Even Scripture says that we can learn from the mistakes and examples of others (1 Corinthians 10:1-12).
I have a short video below, a refresher of the history behind our national anthem. I would kindly ask that you watch it sometime this week for two reasons:
1. Folks are trying to have it and our flag changed and I think we need to be able to defend why it's design and history still applies to today.
2. As a reminder of what our country still stands for-life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, the right to practice religion freely, that these rights were given to us by our Creator, that all races, in God's sight, are equal and should be treated as such. No matter what anyone says, the country of the United States was founded on biblical principles by patriots, and brave men and women.
As Ronald Regan said: "If we ever forget that we are one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under."
The devots I have below hit the nail on the head this 4th of July week. I hope you learn something useful to carry in your heart and mind this week, never know when it may come in handy.
